I’m not… fearless. I’m terrified. I’m always terrified. I act like I know what I’m doing, but I don’t. I don’t know if Isaac is dying right now. I don’t know if I made a mistake with Scott. I don’t know what my dad is thinking. I don’t know if we should trust Derek. I don’t know… I don’t know anything.

One of these women is despised and hated for being awkward.
The other is applauded and worshipped for the exact same reason.
I know other factors come into play.
But something isn’t right there.

ones an extrovert and ones an introvert voila la différence

One had to portray a disaster of a character, one didn’t

Both were doing their jobs as actresses. One was better written.

shipsanddip asked: I want to read hufflepuff!scott meta, pls thnx

lycanthropique:

oh god i just woke up (yes it’s 2pm shh my sleep schedule is terrible) so i don’t even have a functional enough brain to write my thoughts on this, so these aren’t thoughts, they’re just feelings…

i have SO MANY feelings about hufflepuff scott. i mean, i thought he was a gryffindor for a very long time and i absolutely still see those characteristics in him, and i think sorting is a very personal thing so i’d never try to convince anyone that their sorting headcanons are wrong and i recognize i probably have a lot of personal bias, but oh my god, hufflepuffs. they are just and loyal! unafraid of toil! and so is the dedicated, hardworking, patient prince of my heart, scott mccall. he’s not one of these people whose moral code is all flexible and bends to accommodate whatever they feel like doing that day. he has high standards but he holds himself to the same standards as everyone else and expects them all to play fair. when they don’t, he is hurt and confused, and one of his biggest weaknesses in the beginning is expecting everyone to be as consistent and dependable as he is. one of his biggest struggles is trying to stay true to himself and be an authentic person while the world around him is falling apart and the rules of surviving in that world are constantly changing. those are all very hufflepuff things, at least in my understanding of what hufflepuff is about.

i also think hufflepuffs are sometimes perceived as weak, but that’s because their strengths are in areas that are undervalued (and also areas that are associated with women, and undervalued because they’re associated with women, but if you get me started on my opinions about systemic sexism in the harry potter universe i may literally never stop)

gryffindors, slytherins, and even ravenclaws mostly see vulnerability as weakness but being vulnerable, being “soft”, being empathetic, those are scott’s greatest strengths. a lot of people think he’s naive because they buy into the idea that optimistic people are unintelligent people, people who are unable to assess a situation and understand logically that it’s hopeless. but scott’s smart enough to understand when things are hopeless, he just keeps hoping anyway. when things are bleak, he believes they can get better. when things are cold and cruel, scott is warm and kind. he will do anything and everything to save the people he cares about. when there’s no chance of winning, he keeps fighting. when he’s beaten down, he stands up again. sorry, i started quoting the pamphlet that was given to me by scott mccall fanclub president derek hale when i joined the club, but you see what i’m saying here. the kid’s a badger.

plus i saw this graphic the other day of like, what the houses would be if they turned “dark”…and the hufflepuff one said “pretend inferiority and encourage his arrogance” which is very much how i see scott defeating his enemies, allowing them to think he’s just some stupid kid. that’s basically how he beat gerard at the end of season 2.

i mean, if i had tea with jo rowling and i was like “so there’s this character, right? and he’s not perfect, he makes some mistakes, but he’s always trying to do the right thing, and his biggest sources of stress come from things being unfair, and he’s really dedicated to his friends and family, and he doesn’t care about power, he cares about people" i’m pretty sure she’d be like "ah yes, so he’s a hufflepuff"
